Optavia Fuelings - Causing Illness

Optavia Products and/or Diet Plans Cause Illness

  • An 11-year veteran coach states that gut issues, and severe gut issues are common.

  • Additional admissions from other reps describe similar and more severe symptoms.

  • There is well-documented history of consumers suffering gastrointestinal and other health problems as a result of consuming Medifast/Optavia products.

  • Gastrointestinal problems persist despite marketing claims that the new Optavia product line is "natural" and has probiotics that support digestive and immune health.

  • Rapid weight loss crash/starvation diets, such as the Optavia 5 and 1 program, causes gallstone development in 10-25% of people, according to a scientific study.

  • Gas and bloating are so common that consumers have coined the term "Medifarts" to describe the symptoms associated with consuming Medifast products.

  • Medifast/Optavia is currently being sued by a customer who suffered gastrointestinal and other health problems as a result of consuming the company's products.

  • Optavia products contain contaminants like lead (based on recent test results) and Stevia; both are associated with gastrointestinal problems.

  • Optavia, the brand Medifast is heavily promoting, does not clearly disclose possible side effects. The words "side effect" is not even used on the Optavia website.

If anyone decides to do a massive lawsuit on them I’m on board. The more people the better. We all have no history of stomach issues until we started this poison diet.

This has significantly affected my life since 2018. Ive been dealing with this since then. I’ve had reflux surgery, multiple diagnostic tests, etc.. sometimes I feel I’ll never get better. The coaches were non existent once I started telling them what was happening to me. Optavia needs to be shut down, but I can’t be the only one.

I started 5 &1 in late Oct 2021. Loss about 30 lbs. In mid Oct 2022, I had my gallbladder removed. I never had gallbladder problems prior. More than likely, I have imaging showing such.

I'm contacting an attorney. This is much more than a coincidence that so many people had this happen. I received no warning about these physical issues.

Does anyone know of a class action that has already started or any individual who has tried to hold Optavia liable?

I began the Optavia 5/1 in August 2020. By November 2020, I had lost 50 lbs and stopped as I was near my goal weight and comfortable. I kept the weight off for about a year, but have since gained it back. In March of 2022, I went for my annual physical and my routine urinalysis showed microscopic blood in my urine. Did a repeat and was the same. My Dr. referred me to a urologist for additional testing, and after testing bladder, kidneys and ureters had normal finding and no longer showed any microscopic blood. However, CT of the abdomen she had me go for showed "something" going on in the tail of my pancreas. Long story short and…

I started the Optivia diet on 11/7/2021. I was cooking supper 11:9/2021 and nicked my finger with a knife that didn’t even require a bandaid.

I got sick 11/13/2019 and was diagnosed with pneumonia on 11/15/2019. I stayed at home, sick and taking antibiotics until 9 days layer, on 11/24/2019, I blacked out and fell...I broke 2-5 metatarsals in my left foot and cut a 2 inch gash on tue ball of my same foot. I was taken to the ER where I had 70/38 blood pressure and got glue and a walking boot for my foot. I was also diagnosed with Staphylococcus Aureus Endocarditis (staph on my mitral heart valve).

I had gotten a bacteria in my blood that…

Has anyone had kidney or bladder issues? I was on optavia for 3.5 months started getting kidney pain and burning sensations in my bladder then started peeing blood. I reached my goal so transitioned but a few month laters I wanted to shed a few more pounds and now I'm back to kidney pain and peeing blood 3 days into 5&1.

Hi!

I lost 18 pounds on octavia and just stopped the diet last week. I started to get burning and urinary sx. I had a urine culture which showed an infection with a lot of white cells. This is my second infection. The only change in my life was the food plan with feelings. I would not recommend this diet to anyone.
